1. Who We Are

We are not a regulated financial adviser and do not provide financial, tax or legal advice.

Contact: contact@sterlingcalc.co.uk

As we do not directly process personal data (see Section 2), we are not required to register with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) solely for operating this site.

2. What Data We Collect

We do not collect personal data directly. SterlingCalc has no user registration, no login system, and no contact forms. All calculator inputs (salary figures, property prices, pension contributions, etc.) are processed locally in your browser using JavaScript and are never transmitted to our servers.

We do not store, log or retain any of the financial figures you enter into our calculators.

The only data collected is anonymous usage data gathered automatically by third-party services (Google Analytics) as described below.

3. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use SterlingCalc โ€” for example, which calculators are most used, how long visitors spend on pages, and where visitors come from.

GA4 automatically collects the following categories of data:

  • Pages visited and navigation paths
  • Time spent on pages and on the site
  • Browser type, operating system, and device category
  • Approximate geographic location (country and city level)
  • Traffic source (e.g. search engine, direct, referral)

IP addresses are anonymised by default in GA4. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

Data processor: Google LLC, operating under Google's Privacy Policy and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (understanding site usage to improve it) / Consent via our cookie banner (required under UK PECR for analytics cookies).

GA4 data retention: 14 months (default setting).

Opt-out: You can prevent GA4 from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by declining analytics cookies when prompted by our cookie banner.

4. Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console to monitor how SterlingCalc pages appear in Google Search results and to identify any technical issues. Search Console does not collect personal data about site visitors.

5. Google AdSense (Advertising)

We display advertisements on SterlingCalc served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This enables Google to show you ads that may be relevant to your interests.

Google is an authorised third-party vendor. The use of advertising cookies is subject to your consent via our cookie banner.

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

  • Right of access โ€” to obtain a copy of any personal data held about you
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") โ€” to request deletion of your data
  • Right to object โ€” to object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to data portability โ€” to receive data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to restrict processing โ€” in certain circumstances

To exercise any of these rights, or to raise a concern about our privacy practices, please contact us at contact@sterlingcalc.co.uk.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

9. Children's Privacy

SterlingCalc is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. The Junior ISA calculator is provided for use by adults acting on behalf of minors.
